I've got a Pentium 4 processor, 3 Gigs of RAM, and a decent video card - and running Windows XP.
I recently intalled software for a cable that connects composite cable to a USB plug, so that I could upload from my father-in-law's camcorder (DV to AVI) to the hard drive, and then edit the files in Adobe Premier 3.0. Problem was, Adobe wouldn't recognize the camcorder - so I installed the ULead VideoStudio SE 10 software that came with the USB cable/converter. ULead's software recognized the camcorder, and after I converted the AVI files to MPeg-2 files with ULead I was able to edit the files with Adobe. Then I started getting 'this hardware may not have been installed properly' messages, and Adobe started to freeze practically everytime that I used it, forcing me to turn off the computer from the switch on the back, reboot, and get back on the program. And everything started to slow down on the computer. I figured there was probably a conflict between one or the other (or both) of the new softwares (Adobe was running fine up 'til now) so I uninstaled both of them and then ran several anti-virus and spyware/malware etc.

Programs just to make sure. Now Adobe still freezes - but not as often. The major problem that I have is that my computer will crash and reboot almost every time get on it - usually, but not always when I connect to a URL via Internet Explorer, sometimes when I try to access a file from the hard drive that holds my files. And everything is S L O W.from the start-up to getting on-line to accessing files, etc. After I reboot, Windows gives me a 'This computer has just had a serious error' message - but also says that the report I am sending them is corrupted.
